Release Notes for Oracle Data Provider for .NET Extension for Azure NuGet Package

This NuGet package supports direct Microsoft Azure integration with both managed ODP.NET and ODP.NET Core. Features include ODP.NET single sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) and storing connection string configuration values securely from a centralized provider in Azure App Configuration and Azure Key Vault.

This document provides information that supplements the Oracle Data Provider for .NET (ODP.NET) documentation.

New Features

  • Centralized Configuration Providers – Cloud Vault and New Configuration Options In this release, ODP.NET adds several new centralized cloud configuration provider updates:
    • Cloud vault support for Azure Key Vault to store secrets, such as passwords and wallets.
    • ODP.NET connection string, token location, wallet location can accept Azure URLs
    • Setting OracleConnection.RemoteConfigurationFiltering to false disallows local file access. They would only be accessible on a remote system, such as a cloud vault.
    • ODP.NET automatically incorporates cloud configuration and password updates by updating its local cache of these values without requiring custom polling code. Note: There have been some syntax changes to the provider URL and syntax. Please review the full ODP.NET documentation for more information.
